Professor Linn Song, M.ARCH2, B.ARCH
Dozenten > PROF. LINN SONG

Linn Song is a Professor of (Architectural) Visual Communication. He is also the founder and director of the MIXstudio Laboratory, which utilizes outreach/service-learning and design-build projects with communal institutions and non-profit organizations to focus on the "economy of design” as a means of critical design and cultural inquiry.

Prof. Song’s research examines the role of built environments and landscapes at the confluence of identity formation, cultural politics, and claims of territory – both abstract and real. He is currently working on a book of essays, accompanied by photographs taken in a five-week period over two summers during which he traversed along the 1333 km long western border of Germany and through all of the border crossings it shares with its neighbors France, Luxembourg, Belgium and The Netherlands.

His professional practice has included occasional small projects in the US and Germany, as well as tenures in the offices of Barton Myers Associates (Los Angeles), Behnisch & Partner (Stuttgart), Albert Speer & Partner (Frankfurt) and Woerner + Partner (Frankfurt). He has a B.ARCH (1990) and M.ARCH 2 (2001) from The University of Texas at Austin and has served as a Guest Critic and Visiting Professor at institutions in the US and Europe, such as TOBB Üniversitesi Ankara (Turkey), the Academie van Bouwkunst/Hogeschool Rotterdam (The Netherlands), The University of Texas at Austin, The Ohio State University, Miami University (OH) & MUDEC (Luxembourg), The Catholic University of America, UCLA’s FutureLab, and the Pratt Institute of Brooklyn/NYC, New York
