Professional Lighting Design Convention 2011

The Professional Lighting Design Convention 2009 is still the talk of the lighting world! And preparations for PLDC 2011 in Madrid (!) are already underway! From 19. to 22. October, 2011 up to 1300 participants will be making their way to the Spanish capital for further education, to discuss new lighting solutions, exchange information on research results, meet business contacts and learn more about cutting-edge technologies.

¡ vamos ! The cornerstones for the establishment of the lighting design profession were laid with the first convention in London – “a milestone” – and the successive event in Berlin – “a step ahead”! These first steps need to be reinforced and developed! Under the guidance and with inspiration gained from experienced lighting professionals, the new lighting design generation is ready to forge ahead and make their contributions in all fields of lighting design and research!

PLDC 2011 is organised by VIA Publishing, the publisher of the PLD magazine and co-organised by the Professional Lighting Designers’ Association, PLDA. The organisers will be supported locally by the Asociacioón Profesional de Diseñadores de Iluminación, APDI.

PLDC is a three-day conference built around four tracks offering around 65 papers from internationally renowned speakers and upcoming young professionals.
The conference is accompanied by an exclusive manufacturers’ exhibition, offering industry partners a platform to present their companies and broaden their business contacts! The first partners in the lighting industry have already confirmed their participation in the event.
Furthermore, PLDC offers
-    a Gala Dinner and PLDR Award
-    Vox Juventa – PLDA’s mini-conference for the under 30s
-    Pre-Convention Meetings
-    a Social Evening Event
-    Self-running poster presentations

With six million inhabitants Greater Madrid is historically and culturally speaking one of Europe’s most significant metropolises. The Spanish capital itself is home to 3.3 million residents and is thus the second runner up of the biggest metropolises in the European Union, after London and Berlin! The commercial and financial centre of Spain, Madrid is of national and international importance for the (lighting) market and the gateway between Europe and Central and Southern America.

The recently established Asociación Profesional de Diseñadores de Iluminación, APDI will partner the event and contribute towards local coordination on site.
Further professional associations, as well as international universities with lighting design courses will again be invited to partner the event and to further expand the lighting design network! A prime goal is international exchange on all levels to support the further establishment of the profession.

The conference will be held in English, with simultaneous translation into Spanish planned.
